  • What an election

Hi to all 3 of you who read my blog!  Hahahahaha!

I'm frankly shocked at how long ago my last blog post was written, given the fact that I religiously read my friends' blogs. (Love you all)  I've been tempted to blog about so many things over the summer, but I pooted out in the end.  I suppose what I've been doing is mind-blogging, aka talking to myself.  There's nothing new there, because  I'm crazy like that.

The important-something that has drawn me back into the blogosphere is this stupid election.  I am overly stressed about it because, frankly, I'm tremendously confused and torn.  I feel that this country's got so much at stake now, and we just need a CHANGE, but what change will be good for us?  Will anything change at all?  I'm almost afraid to write anything, after reading the mean-spirited "anonymous" comments that are left on friends' posts.

I might be in the minority here, but I struggle with what my own selfish desires are (what party will be the most good for me and mine) or what I think will be for the greater good, whatever that may be.  Democrat or Republican, I think party lines are useless.  Can't we all get together and be one party and agree on what issues are and try to solve them (Commies)?  Arnold & I discussed this the other day, but the probability of doing away with the traditional party stances are nil-to-none.  He's also harping on me that the likelihood of one party being better than the other is just ideological nonsense, how about voting for the party that will leave us alone and not raise taxes.  (haha, you can guess who he's voting for)  How cynical, huh?

Comments & Observations which I refuse to let influence me in my vote.  REFUSE, I TELL YOU!!!  Seriously.  Except the link I've included at the bottom.

    1) Barack & Michelle make a hell of a picturesque ideal couple in the White House.  Their kids are cute as buttons.

    2)  Could the camera focus on any more shudder-inducing individuals at the RNC?  I swear, everybody I saw looked scary, and to boot, I saw so many Joan Rivers lookalikes.  We started laughing, because it got so comical.  Why did the people at the DNC look so sane and normal, by comparison?  Hm, liberal media camera operators :D

    3)  McCain's strength is NOT speech-giving.  HAHAHA!  I was actually scared that he was going to fall over or something.  I was whispering, "C'mon, keep going!  Keep reading that teleprompter!" VS.....

    4)  Obama.  Dude, can he speechify or what?  Thank goodness he gave some more specifics about his plans for the White House.  He would make oodles of money just being a professional speaker.

    5)  Palin did NOT need to make fun of the DNC's Greek styrofoam columns.  That was just dumb and mean-spirited.  Came across as so high-school!  She had an awesome speech without it.  If you're interested in learning more about her (and who isn't?!?!) you must click on this link!  My sister heard about it on NPR.  It's legit, and it's gone viral because people are so interested.  Eh, you've probably heard about it already, but I'm always behind the times.

Ok, I'm blogged up for now.  Hopefully I'll have something else to blog about soon!  Keep checking me out :D

  • Too funny to not share

We went to eat udon on Saturday, and this was so hilarious to me.   I kept on cackling aloud at weird moments for a couple days afterwards.

I shove a piece of food into A's mouth without warning...

    A:  What's this?
    Me:  A shiitake mushroom.
Josephine:  (horrified & shocked look) That's a talking mushroom?!?!

Hoo-hoo!  You just had to see the look on her face.

    Something else that tickles me:
J:  Which Hannah Montana song do you like better?  *This* or *this*?
    G:  (dully)  I really don't care.
J:  Don't you like *this* song?!?!
    G:  (dully)  Ok.

  • Random Stuff

This will be an entry that has no rhyme or reason, but that's alright y'all!

    1)  Spring excitement

Yesterday and today were TROPICAL!  50 deg!  I was so happy to see all the snow melted away.  Only bad stuff, I could see all the doggie-doo that I forgot to pick up during all the snowstorms.  *sigh*  It's a gross job, but I cleaned up our yard yesterday.  Now I can look forward to all the hyacinths & tulips that Josephine and I planted together in the fall.  This is the first spring that I can definitely consider myself prepared for.  As in gardening-prepared.

    2)  H-Mart Excitement

Ok, this is tremendous news for the Korean population along Beantown's beltway, but the Boston Globe announced that H-Mart is opening a location in Burlington!  That's 1 mile away from my house!  Woo-hoo!  H-Mart (aka Han-ah-reum) is a Korean grocery chain that is basically 1-stop shopping for your Asian food needs, emphasis on Korean goods & appliances.  It's the Holy Grail of Korean stores!  What I'm excited about most is that they'll most likely have a small food court of some kind, selling sushi, dumplings, prepared foods, etc.  Hopefully a frozen yogurt place like YoBerry

    3)  I'm not a Yogini

I've given Bikram Yoga the old college try, and even though I enjoy some things about it very much, it's not worth continuing.  I love feeling relaxed and stretched out afterwards, but some things about the classes either irk me or make me giggle ( very "un-Yoga"...Buddha forbid).  I was so annoyed by the sing-songy breathy voice of the instructors: "And now....if you can....find your Crow...then transition into *sumpin-sumpin sanavanayanamana* then Flip Your Dog....if you like...."  Ugh, annoyance and a mad urge to laugh.  I went to 2 different studios, thinking that I'm missing something here, but they're both kind of annoying.  Some of the websites really made me laugh though.  They were talking about how Jesus traveled all over Asia and learned yoga techniques which he brought back and taught his 12 disciples.  Huh?  It just seemed so ridiculous.

    4)  Project Runway Rocks

I knew Christian would win!  I couldn't help it-when his lip started quivering, tears streamed out of my eyes!  I just wanted to put him in a little bag and carry him away.  After the caliber of talent on Season 4, I am very very eager to see the designers step it up, way up for next year!

    5)  Josephine is saying such funny things now.

2 nights ago, I'm washing her up:
J: Mommy, could you put a fan on my hair?
    Me:  A fan?
    J:  Yes, fan.
    Me:  A fan?  A fan?
J:  (impatient) Yes, so my hair will look smooth and nice.
    Me: (light dawning) You mean...conditioner?
J:  (giggling)  Oh, yes, I forgot the word.
Me:  It's not "air conditioner," it's "hair conditioner."  But I can see how you got confused (inner smirk).
    J:  (confident) I know.  It's just natural.

I gave her bangs last week.  She looks GREAT!  I mean, SO CUTE!  Uh, in my objective opinion.

G & J have been getting along so wonderfully lately.  I actually have to shush them because their screamy-laughter is way too loud for me to think clearly.  One game they play together that gives them inordinate fun is called..."Bounty Hunter."  Uh, yes.  You are reading that correctly.  And no, they've never even heard of "Dog the Bounty Hunter."  Apparently, they heard it on a nature program, because it's animal-related.  They both get their soft play chairs and collect as many pillows and blankets and big stuffed animals to create a mountain-cave of some sort.  They take turns being trapped by a wild animal in the cave, while the other person rescues the victim, and they both kill the bad predator.  This involves much screaming and laughing while they pound and jump on pillows.  Mucho giggles.  Sounds kinda fun, doesn't it?  The innocent glee of simple imaginative games.  It's buried in my consciousness and boring adult life, but I try hard to let it surface from time-to-time!

  • Ignorance about Super Tuesday

I'm at the polls this morning, and I didn't anticipate not being able to vote for candidates for both parties.  Duh, ignoramus.  I kinda stood there for a second and wondered why they weren't giving me another ballot; it's annoying being allied with just one party.  I'm telling you, the electoral college process is so weird.  Does it really work?  In theory maybe it makes sense, but c'mon....why can't 1 vote from 1 person work?  It's been a while since high school US History *head scratching*.  I'm confused.

    HIGHLY ANNOYED

I neglected to post my angry vent about this since I was taking a break from Xanga, but here 'tis now!

I took G to see Golden Compass in December (?), and I was pissed because they showed 2 completely inappropriate trailers before the movie.  The first one was "Definitely, Maybe" starring Ryan Reynolds and Abigail Breslin.  The premise is that a young girl is trying to guess which of her dad's past 3 girlfriends is her real mother from the stories he's narrating of the relationships he had with each of them.  What da?!?!?!  Gus is sitting there asking me, "Why doesn't she know who her mother is?  Where is she?  Why does that dad have so many girlfriends?"  ARGH.  Second thing that made me fume:  they showed a trailer for the new "Sex & the City" movie.  Before Golden Compass!!!!!!  I don't care if they didn't show any dialogue or scenes, but c'mon, what knucklehead thought this was ok to show?  At a matinee for a kid's movie?  Apathetic me actually cared enough about this to complain to the management.  What tools...they didn't care.

  • My poor son, the Pats fan

Yep, the Patriots lost.  Somewhat more than vaguely disappointing, I guess (can you tell I'm not a football fan?).  More disappointing because it was such a perfect season that ended with a spectacular loss.  We let Gus stay up until 9:30, but then he had to go to bed.  This morning, the first thing he asked was the score of last night's game.  Uh, well, Arnold broke it to him that we lost, and then our son burst into horribly sad tears!  I've never seen such utter disappointment on his face before like that!  He cried silently for 30 min, I'm not exaggerating.  Wow, what a fan!  It shouldn't have been amusing to me in the least, but I was chuckling a little.  Insensitive mother, yes I am.  Arnold had to do a play-by-play to explain what happened, how it happened, etc etc etc.  He did feel a little better after breakfast, thank goodness.  I asked him whether he despised Eli and the Giants, but he said, "Nah, I still really like Eli.  He's still a good guy.  Sounds like he played really hard at the end."    I love my son.  I still can't get over the fact that he understands football.  Weird.  He does all the explaining to me when we're watching together or he's playing Madden XBox.

Terrible Heartbreaking Warning to Parents Everywhere!!!

Did anyone hear about the New Bedford, MA 6yo boy being raped in the library this past Wednesday?  Arnold & I were completely devastated about the news.  The mother was at the computer terminal just a couple feet away, and the boy was lured away to the reference aisles where a convicted (and freed on parole for being "low IQ") 3rd deg pedophile raped him.  The man demanded to know his address, and the terrified boy told him, and then he said he would come and do it again if he told anybody.  Fortunately, the librarian was alert and spotted something awry when she saw the 2 of them walking somewhere, and she called the police right away.  They caught the evil man later that day, but this boy's life is forever changed!  Don't ever ever ever leave your kids alone even when you think you're in a "safe" public place like the library.  Pedophiles hang around where children are!  A couple times, G has asked me if he can stay in the children's section while I'm looking for my own stuff, and this kind of tragedy is exactly why I adamantly refuse him each time.  I know it's not my place to mete out justice, but I swear, all I can think about is that these kind of people need to die the most horrible death.

Oh, and there was something in the news this morning on Headline News about a child welfare worker or Child Protective Svcs worker (I forget which) who was arrested today for child pornography.  I'm shivering right now writing this.  An addendum:  don't leave your children alone too long even if you're at a friend's home with lots of adults around.  I don't mean to come across as a suspicious paranoid freak, but seriously...it's just better to be safe, right?  Just use the common sense we have, and protect our kids.  Aren't our children our most precious gifts?

This world is so broken, and people are completely broken too.  It really breaks my heart wide open.

    Please please please God...
